QR Code

So tonight I was eating dinner at the Blue Wall Cafe, where I usually go for dinner and I noticed a pamphlet on the table where we were sitting. What caught my eye wasn't the big picture of Mickey Mouse, or the information about spending a semester at Disney, but the huge QR code on the bottom of the page. I asked my friends at the table if they had ever heard about or seen one of these, but they hadn't. I took our my iPhone to show them how it works. I scanned the code using the QR code scanning app, and it brought us to a video, however, the video would not play on the iPhone. I think it seems like a great idea, and it got me to look into it more than I would have without the QR code, but there seems to be a glitch. I suspect the format of the video isn't compatible with the iPhone. Maybe it was just my phone, because I'm sure they tested the codes before printing tons of pamphlets.

Regardless, everyone agreed it seems like a cool idea.

I took a picture of it, so try it out for yourself - and please let me know if it works for you!

If you don't have a smartphone or a QR reader, here is the link:

  1. Now that we have discussed in class the QR codes seem to be showing all over the place. Maybe you should add the QR code to your wiki and show your classmates.

  2. Great Idea! I think there are a few teacher and students that would think this is really cool!

  3. I would agree with Mary. Now that we talked about QR codes, I myself have been seeing them everywhere. I even saw a QR code on the back of the Del Monte Gold Pineapple tag that was attached to my pineapple in the grocery store. It brings you to a website where you can find recipes, tips for selecting pineapples, the nutrition facts of the pineapple as well as how to store them. QR codes will be everywhere soon.

In regards to the specific QR code that you found Lauren, it brings back memories to when I once thought about working for Disney for a semester. (This is one regret that I have for not doing. Even being in Disney for the past week made me realize that I would still love to work for the company before I die. I know, I am crazy!)

  4. Craig,

One of my friends is doing the program this semester and isn't enjoying it at all. She said she's working 60-70 hours a week at a concession stand as her "internship" and barely makes any money! I bet Disney would be a great company to work for, but I'm not sure about the internship program...

I used my verizon droid phone to capture the qr code and it worked perfectly. It took a few minutes for the video to load and play.
